Manu of us have Objectives, aims, goals and aspirations in life. At some point of time or other, we also think of how to realize our goals. Some goals are realized and some are not. We need to list the number of things we once wanted to achieve and how many of them we actually realized and this ratio is a very important criterion for success.
One important requirement for success is whether we have the right strategy to support our goal. Strategy means putting things in place carefully. We need to understand that in the world many events are happening. The only thing we need to consider is whether what is happening is what we intended to happened.
A careful study of successful people will reveal that they has a well thought out strategy and they went about systematically through a specific a specific action plan. A strategy can be worked out through the following simple steps:-

  • Design a general strategy: - This will include board principles, the approximate time frame, and the overall objective. It is something like an artist setting out his canvas and visualizing his picture on canvas.
  • Work for the specific strategy: - This means a detailed work taking into consideration minute things. This will include breaking the objectives into sub-tasks and thinking about specific action plans.
  • Preparing for counter measures in event of failures: - This includes action planning for likely setbacks in the action plans. This includes thinking such as “IF this fails, Then this...”, “If this happens, then that..”
  • Checking for progress: - This is very important in the strategy formulation. This stage will put us back into action plans by suggesting off course corrections.
Today spend some time to list the various things that you want to achieve and check if you have an appropriate strategy for reaching the same..
